# Tracking Pinterest

Add the Molecule Data UTM parameters to your Pinterest ads.

**COPY THIS UTM PARAMETERS STRING**

```
?utm_campaign={campaignid}%7C{campaignname}&utm_medium=PaidSocial&utm_source=Pinterest&utm_content={campaignid}%7C{adgroupid}%7C{adid}
```

Pinterest replaces the values in curly brackets (`{campaignid}`, `{campaignname}`, `{adgroupid}`, `{adid}`) with the real campaign, ad group, and ad IDs when someone clicks your ad. Copy the string exactly as it is, and don't replace them yourself. `%7C` is the URL-encoded `|` separator.

**In your Pinterest Ads Manager account:**

1. Open **Ads** and select the **ad you want to track**, then click **Edit**.
2. In the **Destination URL** field, paste your full website URL followed by the UTM parameters string.
3. **Publish** your changes.

Repeat this for every new ad you create, or use Pinterest's bulk editor to update many ads at once.

{% hint style="info" %}
If your website URL already contains a <mark style="color:red;">"?"</mark> sign, start the UTM parameters string with a "&" sign instead.

Instead of `?utm_campaign=`, use `&utm_campaign=`.
{% endhint %}

Example:

`https://yourwebsite.com?utm_campaign={campaignid}%7C{campaignname}&utm_medium=PaidSocial&utm_source=Pinterest&utm_content={campaignid}%7C{adgroupid}%7C{adid}`

{% hint style="warning" %}
Pinterest can also add its own URL parameters automatically, from the ad account **Settings** or a campaign's **URL tracking** section. If that option is on, it may add a second set of `utm_` values that clash with the Molecule Data string. Either turn it off, or open **Parameter settings** and enter the same values as the string above.
{% endhint %}
